Where we can help

Our consultancy is deliberately narrow. We’re most useful on decisions that need someone who understands both the technology and the numbers, and how a business actually runs. For example:

  • whether to replace a system, extend it or leave it alone
  • whether a supplier’s proposal and price are reasonable
  • whether a process needs software at all, or a better way of working
  • what an analytics capability should look like, and what it should cost
  • how much evidence a decision needs, and how to get it

How we advise

We look at the realistic options, including doing nothing, and set out what each would cost, what could go wrong and what it depends on. You get a short written recommendation and a conversation about it, with the reasoning shown so you can challenge it.

If a recommendation points towards work we could do ourselves, we say so openly, so you can weigh the advice with that in mind.

Not everything needs software

Looking closely at how a process works day to day often turns up improvements that cost nothing to build: a check moved earlier, a form shortened, a report nobody reads switched off. Where that’s the answer, that’s what we recommend.

Seeing it through

When a decision does involve new systems, we can help with the rest: comparing suppliers against your real requirements, testing with your own data, moving data across, and checking afterwards that the change did what it was meant to. If something needs building, our software development work can be part of the same project.
